Folklore Cultural Heritage No. 162

Gwiae Historic House has an open style architecture of Honam province, unlike historic houses in Gyeongsang-do, with a large pond and a pavilion connected by a cross-over bridge. And nearby is Byeolbyeol Art Village Gwihomaeul-gil where four artworks are displayed.

This traditional building consists of a Sadang(shrine), Gwiaejeong, Yukgakjeong, Anchae(main house), Sarangchae(guesthouse), bathrooms and a Didilbanga(treadmill). Gwiaejeong is designated as the Gyeongsangbuk-do Folklore Cultural Heritage No. 162.
Gwiaejeong is built at the foot of the Wumoksan Hill, on the left of the Gwiae Historic House, with a northeast aspect looking onto Bohyeonsan mountain at a long distance, and onto Hwaaksan Mountain which the great scholar Gwiae called “one of 10 scenic views” in his poem. In front of the pavilion, there is a square pond with a rounded isle in its center. They symbolize the balance of Yin and Yang.
